IVF Treatment can help couples overcome many fertility issues. It involves fertilising an egg outside of the woman’s body and then implanting the viable embryo in her uterus.
What Does IVF Treatment Involve?
IVF Treatment, also known as In Vitro Fertilisation, helps couples all over the world overcome many fertility issues. It has been used for 40 years now to support couples in achieving their dream of starting or extending their family.
IVF Treatments typically involve taking an egg and sperm and joining them outside of the body, then allowing the embryo to grow in a protected laboratory environment for approximately five days. When ready, the embryo is then implanted in the female’s uterus in the hope that it will take as a viable pregnancy. The procedure is similar to a Pap Smear and quite tolerable.
What If IVF Treatment Results In More Than One Embryo?
IVF Treatment frequently results in more than one embryo being created. The remaining unused embryos can be frozen for up to 10 years and used later if/and when a couple wishes to add to their family. If after 10 years, they do not wish to try for more children, the frozen embryos must be destroyed.
